Scholarship Description: The Temasek Foundation Water Leadership Programme (TFWLP), developed in collaboration between Temasek Foundation, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, and PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, is designed for water utilities managers operating in Asian emerging markets that are adapting to the increasing water and sanitation demands placed on them. The programme will expose participants to the best practices in water utilities governance, practical guidance on managing water utilities effectively, and potential strategies to deal with existing and future challenges.The TFWLP will accept team applications composed of 5-7 members each from one country. 5-7 specific country teams will be selected to participate in the programme. Scholarship Description: The goal of the Quota Scheme is to give students from developing countries in the South, Central- and East-Europe and Central-Asia, relevant education that would also benefit their home countries when they return after graduation. The programme also contributes to strengthen Norwegian institutions of higher education’s participation in global knowledge cooperation. The Norwegian government provides scholarships for students from developing countries in the South and countries of Central- and East-Europe and Central-Asia under the Quota Scheme. The overall objective of the Quota Scheme is to promote the internationalisation of higher education. Today, the scheme provides funding for a total of 1100 students, 800 of them from developing countries in the South and 300 from Central- and East-Europe and Central-Asia. Each year universities and university colleges in Norway are allocated a certain number of quota students. ISSER-PhD Programme in Development Studies 2012, Ghana

The Ghanaian-German Centre of Excellence for Development Studies is a collaborative venture between the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana and the Centre for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany. The Centre is being funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the Centres of Excellence for Teaching and Research to Train Future Leaders in Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative.

Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons for a 3-Year Full-time PhD Programme in Development Studies beginning January 2012.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

   1. First degree (at least Second Class Lower Division)
   2. Masters degree with research (MPhil.)

Young and dynamic graduates with MPhil. Degrees awarded within the last 6 years are encouraged to apply.

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants in Ghana and Ghanaians are required to purchase e-vouchers from all branches of Fidelity Bank, HFC Bank, Ecobank, and ADB and apply online (see School of Research and Graduate Studies website – www.srgs.ug.edu.gh and the main University’s website – www.ug.edu.gh for details).

Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by National Academy of Education/Spencer, USA

The National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early career scholars working in critical areas of education research. This nonresidential postdoctoral fellowship funds proposals that make significant scholarly contributions to the field of education. The program also develops the careers of its recipients through professional development activities involving National Academy of Education members.

FELLOWSHIP AWARDS
  • Fellows will receive $55,000 for one academic year of research, or $27,500 for each of two contiguous years, working half-time. 
  • Fellowships must begin during the 2011-2012 academic year. 
  • Fellows take the equivalent of one year’s teaching leave during the fellowship term.
  • Fellows will be included in professional development retreats with other fellows and NAEd members. 
  • Up to twenty postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded in 2011.
  • Selection will be made by a committee of NAEd members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES

The NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Applicants must have received their PhD, EdD, or equivalent research degree between
    January 1
    , 2005, and December 31, 2010.
  • Applicant should have a demonstrated record of research experience in education.
  • Proposed project must be an education research project. NAEd funds studies that examine the efficacy of curriculum and teaching methods, however, we do not fund the initial development of curriculum or instructional programs.
  • Applications will be judged on the applicant’s past research record, career trajectory in education research, and the quality of the project described in the application.
  • Applications must be made by the individual applying for the fellowship; group applications will not be accepted.
  • Non-US citizens are welcome to apply.
  • Concurrent funding for the proposed project is not permitted. You may not hold a grant from the Spencer Foundation at the same time as this fellowship.
